Floating Islands

Floating Islands is a Dutch initiative (the Floating Islands foundation) developing floating platforms for hydroponic food production on water. Working with Wageningen University & Research, its Floating Food Farm grows vegetables hydroponically on small floating test islands, and it has helped develop and patent a floating foundation for greenhouse farming. The concept aims to combine horticulture with water retention near cities as a response to land scarcity and climate change.
